identifying important information: Underlining and Highlighting
Usage and Application: Often there is more new material taught
in a short period of time than students can possibly store in their memories. Students must be able to determine what is important for them to learn and what is trivial.
·Advantage: Less time-consuming than note-taking and keeps specific information within its larger context.
·Disadvantage: Only effective when used sparingly to emphasize main ideas and essential details, as highlighting a whole page including trivial details is not valuable.
